MICHALYN CURRAN

When I was little, I used to beg my parents to replay songs on our car's CD player incessantly. Partly, because I loved music, but mainly because I would imagine scenes for the music I was listening to. I had to listen to each song until I knew everything I could to make sure that the beat, instruments, and harmonies synced perfectly to the Kidz Bop version of the Y.M.C.A blasting through the speakers. After about 10 or so rounds of each song, my parents would put their foot down, change the song, and the whole scenario would repeat itself.

Thankfully, I grew out of the phase where I had to hear each song I listen to 10 times in a row. However, the creativity and need for succinct storytelling never died. I've been a storyteller, in touch with all forms of audio and visual art since the beginning. After realizing I lacked the necessary skills to be the next Adele or Paul McCartney, I turned to writing and haven't looked back since. Now, the goal is to be able to hone my abilities in writing to embrace making our world a little brighter one word at a time.
